LMP2208H: The Science of Biobanking
For Pathologists' Assistant students in the MHsc in Laboratory Medicine program.
This is a one-term (0.5 FCE) lecture/seminar course meeting weekly for two hours.
You will gain a strong understanding of Best Practices in biobank operations including topics such as:
- governance and ethics
- patient/donor identification and consent
- specimen collection
- processing, storage, and data annotation
- retrieval for use in research studies.
You will also become familiar with facility requirements, staff training, and quality management needed to optimally support biomedical research.
Course coordinator
Together with the Teaching Assistant, the course coordinator:
- develops the curriculum
- assigns case studies and presentations
- provides lectures
- invites guest speakers.
